crna_kuna's Perfect Future

Prelude

Well this is not mine. But I would sign the biggest part.

Written by crna_kuna in VNV Nation Empire, this article is a hymn to optimism and VNV. I suppose she loved Matter+Form.

For those who don't know it, Futureperfect is one of the best VNV albums.

Make Your Future Perfect

Wed Oct 31, 2001 2:06 pm

Here are some tips on making your future perfect...

1. Changing yourself and changing what you do means changing your future; changing your future definately has its impact on others - so by doing so, you are not only changing your own future, but the future in its whole.

2. Don't be afraid to be unrealistic. Disappointment at times is a fair price to pay for being an idealist. Your belief can be a beacon for others, a light in darkness, you can be an example or an inspiration for some! One of my favourites..."enveloped in a sentiment. a sound that rushes over me. engage an impulse to pretend i have a faith as pure. not forgetting what it means to dream.(...)and what will happen? whill i dream? i am too scared to close my eyes. for a second please hold me. none can change in me these things that i believe. but i don't know what happens now. i am too scared to close my eyes."

3. Don't fear your doubts. It is healthy to have doubts - it means you are thinking about things, not just accepting things to be just true. By fleeing from your own doubts you become volnurable for the criticism of others and your goals can disappear in the fog of indecision. Facing your doubts can make you and your beliefs stronger, you can only overcome doubts by facing them.

Just like to quote here some lines from a really nice song i was listening to while thinking of doubts... "praying for myself. these thoughts i try to hide. i have faith in me and hope this will survive. but it's tearing me apart. i can't hear the words by which i guide. so i must ask again who will carry me...."

4. Think of what you've already achieved, not in all the things you cannot change (at once). Because if you do so, it could cause you to become hurt, angry,..vengeful..; remember the words: "victory not vengeance" ;)

5. Don't look to detailed at the big picture. Only look at the little things with details, just look at the big picture in a blur. You can change small things around you, things that look so pityful and meaningless to you or to others, but by changing these little things for the better - you can achieve more than you can possibly imagine! One of my favourite quotes: -saving one soul, saving the world- You have to look at it like a waterfall which consists of millions of tiny meaningless drops, one or two less doesn't seem to matter - but: this waterfall cannot exist without these drops! No drops means no waterfall - always be aware of this! How small your part in the whole may seem, you are a part so you are important. Everything people do keeps the waterfall going - there are bad waterfalls and good ones, it's for you to decide in which you would like to take part. (btw the allegory with the waterfall comes from a Croatian poem)

6. Help others to believe in themselves, help them to take future in their own hands and tell those who already try to do so and have to face many doubts and criticisms every day - that you respect and admire them. It really helps, believe me ;)

7. last but not least: promote vnv nation, cause if the vnv sparkle enters the soul, it grows to be a pretty light for the carier and those around him/her. (does this sound like a sect or what? just quoting "...a god as lost as you and blind to fill your hollow soul again. you seek a god to stand above you, wrapping healing arms around you..." this sounds familiar, veeeery familiar, erm...)

still totally vnv-anized, poor me....

broke, burned, scarred whatever,
still staring at the sky,
don't worry i had this problem b4 i ever heard a vnv song (see the nxt posting "intertextual saviours")
btw sorry for the long post, i thought it might interest u ;)

grtz,
maYa
